If you’re as excited as we are about the next installment of The Hunger Games movie franchise, you’ll take whatever scrap of Panem you can. Thankfully, the mega-group Coldplay understands our needs and recently shared a one-minute and 30-second snippet of their contribution to the Catching Fire soundtrack.
The track, called “Atlas,” sounds distinctly Coldplay, aka Chris Martin mellowly croons as a steady, pressing beat sounds in the background. The song is faster paced and less eery than say “Cemeteries of London” but it’s not quite as quick and uplifting as a tune like “Paradise.” Still, we have no doubt Katniss Everdeen would totally jam to this song if, you know, her life wasn’t perpetually in danger.
Coldplay shared the release date via Twitter earlier this week so keep your eyes peeled and your ears open for the full version of “Atlas” to drop Friday, September 6.
The song includes art of Katniss, as portrayed by our BFF Jennifer Lawrence, standing solo on a cliff with her trademark bow and arrow firmly in hand. Honestly, the whole lone ranger facing the coming storm motif could apply to all three of the Hunger Games books, but does fit Suzanne Collin’s tear-jerking, heart-wrenching sequel.
Need a reminder of what happens in the second book? Take a moment and watch the official trailer for the movie, which premieres Friday, November 22.
What do you think of the new song? Are you even more excited for Hunger Games: Catching Fire or...actually, we don’t see how there’s another possible option.
