UPDATE

Bad news, you guys. It doesn’t sound like our awesome new couple nickname Thwift will be catching on anytime soon. A source identified as a pal of Taylor Swift’s told Us Weekly that although Taylor had “a nice time talking” with Brenton Thwaites at a recent event “no numbers were exchanged.” The T-Swift friend added, “She did think he was nice, but how could you be dating someone when you only just met them five minutes earlier? They are definitely not dating.” Mmk whatever you say, source.

ORIGINAL STORY

Begin your couple name brainstorming now. Taylor Swift was spotted getting chummy with hunky Australian (yes, Australian) actor Brenton Thwaites at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) where Taylor stopped by for a Monday, September 9, screening of One Chance (she’s got a song on the soundtrack).

Taylor and Brenton got a chance to chat “for an hour in a booth” at a private party. A curious onlooker said during the course of the evening the Aussie star “had his arm around her back.” For her part, Taylor “touched his leg a few times. They seemed very into each other.” We believe it after seeing this close and comfortable photo of the two. Watch those hands, Brenton!

It has been almost more than eight months since she and One Direction's Harry Styles called it quits with no sign of a reunion despite their run-in at the MTV Video Music Awards a few weeks back. And seeing as Brenton is closer to Taylor’s age — a reported 24 to her 23  maybe things would go smoother this time around (no offense, Jake and John).

As for Brenton, you can admire his chiseled jawline in the 2012 movie Blue Lagoon: The Awakening, in Angelina Jolie’s forthcoming Maleficent (he plays Prince Phillip), and in the film he was at TIFF to promote, Oculus. And, you know, if things don’t work out between T-Swift and her potential new beau, there’s always the hope she’ll mimic his accent in an upcoming performance.

So got any couple name ideas yet? TayBre? Swaites? Thwift? Give us your suggestions in the comments below.
