It's celebration time for Ariana Grande, as the pop star is proving to be victorious in a major way!
Ariana's debut album, Yours Truly, has hit number one on the Billboard charts in its first week. Ariana's album sold 138,000 copies, which tops Tamar Braxton's album Love & War, which came in second place with 114,000. Get it, girl!
Ariana's album marks the first time that a debut effort by a female artist has hit number one since January 2010, when Ke$ha's first album topped the charts on the strength of the smash hit "Tik Tok." Ariana has had a big hit of her own with her song "The Way," which is available on the album.
On September 10, Ariana — who got her start on the Nickelodeon show Victorious — took to Twitter to share her gratitude with her fans:
And Ariana's feat was not lost on her manager, Scooter Braun, who also manages Justin Bieber. Scooter tweeted:
This good news couldn't come at a better time for Ariana. The singer learned this week that she has injured her vocal chords and had to cancel numerous appearances. She has been ordered by doctors to not sing or even speak (!) for at least the next four days. Thank goodness for texting.
Congrats to Ariana for her big accomplishment! We are "truly" impressed.
