It seems like everyone who’s anyone tried to snag an audition for Fifty Shades of Grey, as the roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey are most certainly slated to make stars out of the actors who got ‘em. And while everyone knows that the book — and forthcoming film adaptation — are chock full of nuts sex, one young actress just couldn’t get over the hump to take it on.
Chloe Bridges, who plays mean girl Donna LaDonna on The CW’s The Carrie Diaries spoke this week about trying out for the role, and it sounds like it was certainly an intimidating process.
Of the audition process, Chloe explains, “The scene was, like, the girl telling her friends about some sexcapade she had… But it goes into extreme detail and uses the word ‘sperm' a couple times. I was like, ‘I don't know guys, I have to go home to my grandparent's house in a few months at Christmas, I don't know if I can do this.’"
Yikes, while we’re still trying to wrap our heads around how the word “sperm” could be used sexily — Chloe says it was used “in a very sexual way,” mind you — we certainly understand how that could be an uncomfortable sit on the casting couch.
"There were three pages of sides that I was going to audition with. I read them and then was like, I really can't do this," the 21-year-old says of not going through with her fight to the top of the heap. Dakota Johnson was announced on September 2 as the Ana-in-training for the E.L. James adaptation, and Chloe ain’t a bit mad she didn’t get the part.
"It was intense. So mad props to the people who are going to do it. You had to be able to take it seriously and not laugh or turn bright red." Something tells us that Charlie Hunnam’s Christian would bring out our serious side just fine...
