It looks like the score is love-love for Novak Djokovic and Jelena Ristic.
Tennis star Novak proposed to former swimsuit model Jelena earlier this week, announcing their engagement to fans on Instagram on Wednesday.
“We're ENGAGED!!! Getting used to introducing Jelena as my fiancé and future wife. Couldn't be happier," the Serbian-born tennis pro, currently ranked number one worldwide, told followers on the social media site. “So happy! Thank you for wonderful wishes,” he added, via his WhoSay page.
The couple, who have been dating for eight years since first meeting at their high school in Belgrade, is a fixture on both the American and European social scenes, thanks to both Novak’s high-profile sports career and his philanthropic work as the founder of the Novak Djokovic foundation, which strives to lift Serbian children out of poverty and social isolation through education. Jelena, who earned her master’s degree in management from Bocconi University in Milan, serves as the foundation’s CEO.
While they haven’t yet announced an official wedding date, People reports that the pair plan to wed sometime next year.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
