Ever since news broke that the Jonas Brothers were canceling their upcoming 19-date tour in the United States and Canada, fans have been clamoring to find out why. Soon enough, rumors began to fly that Joe Jonas could be behind it all. Why? Because Joe’s battling addiction with a trip to rehab...or so the story goes.
We’re not sure that’s the case, however. Sure, Joe has been spotted hanging out with well-known addiction specialist Mike Bayer, but Mike is also pals with Joe’s ex Demi Lovato. Perhaps they’re just friends with no medical benefits?
That’s the story supported over at E! News by entertainment journalist Ken Baker. The E! correspondent and breaking news editor insists that whatever problems the band is facing, it doesn’t involve Joe in a rehabilitation facility. “Joe Jonas is NOT in a rehab,” Ken tweeted on October 14.
It’s a relief to hear rehab might not be behind the change of plans, but that neither rules out the option that Joe might be undergoing some sort of outpatient treatment nor explains why the Brothers Jonas called a halt to an extremely popular tour.
As a source tells E! Online, the band’s difficulties stem from purely musical reasons. “They’re brothers and that will never change,” the source explains. “This isn’t about personal issues. The guys recorded a lot of music and there was broad disagreement within the group about what direction to take the music.”
Let’s hope this is true and that the rift is nothing more serious than some standard familial strife.
