Break out your red pens, Community fans, and draw a big heart around Thursday, January 2. Why? Because that’s the official premiere date for Community’s fifth season!
To start the season (and the year) off right, NBC has scheduled two back-to-back Community episodes to air at 8 p.m. on January 2, according to a TVLine report. The week after (Thursday, January 9) the show will settle into an 8 to 8:30 p.m. slot followed immediately by fellow comedy, Parks & Rec. If you’re a fan of both, you’ll note the 8:30 p.m. start time is a move up by 30 minutes for the Amy Poehler-led series.
Unfortunately, the news wasn’t quite so promising for two other NBC shows. Ironside and Welcome to the Family both got the boot. Until Community returns, look for Parks & Rec encores and various TV specials to fill the scheduling holes.
It’s nice to get a little all-around happy news about Community seeing as earlier this week star Donald Glover made a dramatic revelation about his unexpected exit from the show. In a seven-page confession, Donald explained why his character Troy will only appear in five episodes of the next season. (Read the note for yourself here.)
Are you excited for the fifth season of Community? Got theories on how they’ll deal with Donald Glover’s sudden departure? We’re all ears. Sound off in the comments below.
