Fans weren’t the only ones blindsided by the news the Jonas Brothers canceled their 19-stop tour in North America and Canada. Also blindsided was the performer slated to join the Brothers Jonas on the road: singer Bonnie McKee.
“I was completely surprised,” Bonnie tells MTV, adding that she got the news the day before their scheduled departure. “All of our stuff had been shipped to the East Coast [for the first show in Pennsylvania]; all of our tickets were booked. We had a bus.”
Even more upsetting was all the wasted effort Bonnie and her team put into preparing for the show. “We had been rehearsing 10 hours a day, every day, for two weeks,” she says. “It was a huge shock.”
For her part, Bonnie say no signs of trouble among the pop music trio. “They had been in rehearsals literally days before,” she says. “Everything was on course and fine, so I don’t know. I really don’t know what happened.”
Theories include Joe Jonas battling a secret addiction and the three so divided professionally they can’t even share a social media account together. Bonnie doesn’t know specifics about the “deep rift” in the band but says “everyone’s kind of at odds. So I hope that they work it out because I think they’re very talented.”
She’s “really disappointed” by the canceled tour but found herself another gig opening for Katy Perry at Los Angeles’s Hollywood Bowl for an October 23 benefit and plans to tour with Jingle Ball in December. Way to make lemonade out of three sour pop stars, Bonnie!
