Rapper Pitbull will host the awards show later this month, according to the show's website. This will be the first time that the show has had a host since 2008.
The music star, known for such hits as "Feel This Moment" and "Tonight," sounds very exciting to get the hosting gig.
“I am truly honored to be hosting the 2013 American Music Awards,” Pitbull says. “The night is only about one thing — fun! So buckle and get ready. Dále!”
The show is set to air on November 24 on ABC. Among the scheduled performers include Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, One Direction, Imagine Dragons, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Florida Georgia Line, and Luke Bryan.
"Pitbull is a multi-talented global superstar and the right man to take the reins of the night, which is going to be one great party,” says the show's longtime producer. “That’s why he is called Mr. Worldwide. He’s the perfect choice to celebrate the universal language of music."
Pitbull might be seen as a slightly surprising choice, since he doesn't necessarily have a background in performing or hosting. However, there's no denying that the guy is full of energy.
That said, given that Miley Cyrus is going to be a performer, it would be pretty awesome if she had been the host, no? At least we can be sure that her performance will be worth talking about.
Do you think Pitbull will make a good host? Or would you have preferred someone else?
