Jennifer Lawrence’s status as Hollywood’s darling/our imaginary best friend seems to mean little to Joan Rivers. The 80-year-old red carpet crone recently fired back at J.Law for some comments the 23-year-old actress made about Joan’s show Fashion Police.
Specifically, on November 6 Jennifer said series like the E! mainstay are “just showing these generations of young people to judge people based on things [that don’t matter]. They put values in all the things that are wrong and [show] that it’s okay to just point at people and call them ugly and call them fat and they call it fun.”
Jennifer, who was visiting Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer at the time, added: “Screw those people. You look how you look. What are you going to do? Be hungry every single day to make other people happy? That’s just dumb.”
Joan took issue with J.Law’s characteristically blunt comments, adding her own in a series of three tweets sent November 12.
“It’s funny how Jennifer Lawrence loved @E_FashionPolice during Awards Season when we were complimenting her every single week,” Joan began, adding, “But now that she has a movie to promote, suddenly we’re picking on all those poor, helpless actors.”
The hardest blow came at the end with Joan referencing Jennifer’s famous fall as she ascended the 2013 Oscars stage to receive her Best Actress award. “WAIT!,” Joan writes. “It just dawned on me why Jennifer Lawrence fell on her way up to the stage to get her Oscar. She tripped over her own arrogance.”
Is the pot calling the kettle black or just bashing its outfit? It’s hard to tell with Joan Rivers.
