After production was shut down on Fast & Furious 7 following Paul Walker’s tragic death, the movie’s July 2014 release was postponed indefinitely. But fans of the series can now rest easy — the film officially has a release date.
And Sunday night, Vin Diesel took to Facebook to announce the news first.
“The last scene we filmed together…There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared… in the film we were now completing… the magic captured… and, in just how far we’ve come…” Vin Diesel said, referring to Paul, who was both his close friend and co-star. “Fast and Furious 7 will be released… April 10th 2015! P.s. He’d want you to know first…”
Later, a spokeswoman for the film confirmed the release date, so it seems as if everything Fast & Furious 7 is back up and running.
“Continuing the global exploits in the franchise built on speed, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker lead the returning cast of Fast & Furious 7, which will be released by Universal Pictures on April 10, 2015,” said a statement from Universal Pictures released Sunday night following Vin Diesel’s announcement. “James Wan directs this chapter of the hugely successful series, and Neal H. Moritz and Vin Diesel return as producers.”
According to The Wrap, filming on the latest installment is more than half completed — which means we’ll see Paul in many of the original scenes that he was intended to be in.
Are you looking forward to Fast & Furious 7, or do you think they shouldn’t release the movie at all?
