Just when we thought we'd never have hear about George Zimmerman again, he's back in the news. TMZ reports that he's set to fight rapper DMX in a celebrity boxing match.
George reportedly stated that he'd like to throw down with Kanye West, but he'll have to content himself with a rapper of lesser celebrity.
Still, at least DMX has legit fame. George Zimmerman is only famous — or, perhaps, infamous — for shooting 17-year-old Trayvon Martin on February 26, 2012, in Sanford, Florida. He claimed he was acting in self-defense and was acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges on July 13, 2013 — sparking national outrage.
Celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman reveals to TMZ that around 15,000 people applied to box George after the 30-year-old put out an open invitation. DMX has verbally agreed to the bout but is currently in contract negotiations.
DMX previously told the site, "I am going to beat the living f—k out him … I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I f—k him right up." He also added that he would urinate on George's face.
Expect more details on the three-round fight — like the location, date, and time — to be revealed at a February 12.
