Get your popcorn ready: Conan O’Brien is officially set to host the 2014 MTV Movie Awards next month!
Conan proudly announced the news on his show Tuesday night… after dramatically sweeping every prestigious award in the acting community off of his desk, proclaiming them “garbage.” Why? Because nothing is as awesome as an MTV Movie Award, of course. Who wouldn’t want to take home the golden popcorn?
“After eight years of intense negotiations, I am honored to announce I am hosting MTV’s second most prestigious awards show,” Conan said.
After he made his big announcement on his show, a scrolling message appeared on screen to allay us of any reservations we may have about tuning in. “Folks, don’t worry, True Detective isn’t on that night. We checked,” the message said. “And this season of The Walking Dead will be over by then too. Actually, Game Of Thrones will be on that night, but they’ll repeat it every 4 hours on HBOs 2-7.”
Phew. Maybe we can actually watch now.
Nominees for the awards go live March 6 at 7 a.m. ET, and the awards are totally fan voted, so the winners are up to you!
The MTV Movie Awards air live from the Nokia Theater in LA on Sunday, April 13 at 9 p.m. ET on — of course — MTV.
