In one of the weirder celeb stories we've seen in a while, Orange Is the New Black star Kate Mulgrew (Red) has lent her voice to a scientific documentary claiming that the sun revolves around the earth. Yes, you read that right. But according to Kate, she was duped into participating in the project.

The film, called The Principle, makes the argument (if such an "argument" can really be made), for Geocentrism, the concept that the sun revolves around the earth. Yeah, really. And yeah,  Kate Mulgrew really did narrate it.

But before you start wondering if Red has gone off the deep end, relax: Kate recently took to Facebook to clarify the issue, explaining that she didn't realize what the movie was really about. Here's what she had to say:

I understand there has been some controversy about my participation in a documentary called THE PRINCIPLE. Let me assure everyone that I completely agree with the eminent physicist Lawrence Krauss, who was himself misrepresented in the film, and who has written a succinct rebuttal in SLATE. I am not a geocentrist, nor am I in any way a proponent of geocentrism. More importantly, I do not subscribe to anything Robert Sungenis has written regarding science and history and, had I known of his involvement, would most certainly have avoided this documentary. I was a voice for hire, and a misinformed one, at that. I apologize for any confusion that my voice on this trailer may have caused.

Phew. Apparently Kate wasn't the only one not thrilled to realize what she'd taken part in. Physicist Lawrence Krauss, who appears in the film, wrote in Slate that he never would have knowling appear in such a project.

Glad that's cleared up!
