HBO's detective drama True Detective took the world by storm this winter, in large part thanks to its A-list headliners, Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Because each season of the show will feature an entirely new cast and story, all eyes are now on Season 2. Will HBO be able to snag another all star cast? The latest rumor is that Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain has been asked to take part in the show — but is it true?

Sorry guys, but it sounds like we won't see Jessica solving mysteries next January. Yesterday, May 20, Nerdist reported that Jessica had been offered the lead role in Season 2, but hadn't accepted yet. However, Jessica's reps told E! that the in-demand actress is not doing the show. HBO also denied the rumor.

Oh well, it would have been great. That said, those of you wanting to see a female lead this year have some reason to hold out hope, as writer Nic Pizzolatto has hinted there might be a stronger female presence on the show in the second season.

What else can we expect from the show's sophomore outing? "Hard women, bad men, and the secret occult history of the U.S. transportation system."

Whoever they cast, we're sure it'll be an interesting story!
