Miley Cyrus’s dog, Floyd, may be gone, but he’s definitely not forgotten. But before Miley immortalized him forever with a tattoo on her side, she talked about what a big impact Floyd’s passing has had on her life — and revealed that she refuses to believe that he’s actually gone.
When Miley first revealed that Floyd had died, she was pretty much inconsolable. Even though she dedicated a giant inflatable dog on her “Bangerz” tour stage to her four-legged pal, it obviously couldn’t replace the real thing. And in her NBC “Bangerz” special, Miley explained what was going on behind the scenes.
“I still talk about him like he’s here,” Miley admitted, according to Hollywood Life. “So I haven’t really accepted it fully. I think if I do that then he might actually, like, go at some point. Which I don’t really want.”
Unfortunately, the pain Miley felt became so unmanageable that it contributed to the illness that landed her in the hospital last spring, forcing her to postpone many of the dates on her tour.
“I have to not make myself sick over it,” Miley shared. “‘Cause that’s what I did at first. I really made myself sick about it. Just because I’m — I loved him so much. I really shut down more than I ever let myself.”
Don’t worry, guys — there is a happy ending. Miley recently opened up her home to an adorable dog named Emu, and it looks like her new pup is doing a great job at cheering her up.
Here’s hoping Miley and Emu will make tons of new, happy memories together that will ease the pain of missing Floyd!
