Most times celebrities can’t stop gushing about how grateful they are for their big breaks because without 'em who knows where’d they be. Mischa Barton, though? She say she sometimes regrets she ever signed on with The O.C.
Doing a double-take? Us too, but Mischa said it loud and clear. Here’s what she told Metro over in the U.K. about The O.C.: “It’s something I came so close to not doing. I had a really great thing with film. People say be grateful for what you have but it certainly [was] not the kind of thing I was expecting it to be...I’ve kind of seen it all.”
That in mind, if Mischa could go back in time would she still accept the role of Marissa Cooper? “Probably not,” she says.
We haven’t been this shocked by Mischa since the end of the third season. We get where she’s coming from, though. The kind of high-powered spotlight that got turned on the then-teenage star looked to get pretty hot. She was arrested for drunk driving and possessing marijuana in 2007; two years later, her parents checked her into a psych ward under an involuntary hold after she talked suicide.
“It was a full-on breakdown,” she told People in her October 2013 cover story.
Now 28, the star advises Hollywood up-and-comers to “keep your head on your shoulders” even as people in the industry “blow a lot of hot air at you.” Good advice! Now just to get that little matter of the foreclosure in Beverly Hills cleared up...
