Diff'rent Strokes star Todd Bridges has struggled with drug addiction and knows what it's like to be in a very dark place. But he didn't show much empathy for Robin Williams last night, just after news broke about the comedian/actor's death. Robin's death is being investigated as a possible suicide, with the Oscar winner "battling severe depression of late," and Todd shared some (now deleted) tweets shaking his head at Robin's alleged decision to take his own life.

Here's a look at what Todd wrote:

Todd got A LOT of heat for those tweets — which were shared almost immediately after the news came out that Robin had died — with many fans calling his words tasteless and insensitive. Todd later apologized in a series of new tweets:

"I would like to apologize for the terrible timing of [my] comments that I made in reference to the untimely death of Robin Williams. my best friend committed suicide a few months ago, and I was devastated to discover that he did not solicit my help. I am sure that my attitude toward Williams's death was a delayed reaction of my best friend's death. Again, I apologize for my negative comment, and I ask forgiveness for any pain that I have caused anyone."

Are you glad Todd apologized, and explained his knee-jerk reaction to be angry and frustrated? Maybe he tweeted too soon, and in an insensitive way, but he’s not the only survivor to look back and wish there was something else that could’ve been done.
