**UPDATE: It's official! According to TVLine, 30 Rock has been renewed for what will be it's seventh and final season. We'll have 13 episodes to laugh, cry, and say our goodbyes to Liz Lemon and the rest of the crazy crew! NBC Chairman Bob Greenblatt confirmed the bittersweet news on May 14, saying, “I know Tina, Alec (Baldwin) and the rest will deliver some of their best work. We think the world of Tina and hope she will be in the NBC family for years to come.”
Everyone's fave TGS stars over at 30 Rock will most likely return for a raucously entertaining — but short — farewell season.
NBC is locking in a deal with the talented writers of the Emmy-winning show, starring Tina Fey as forever well-meaning Liz Lemon and Alec Baldwin as forever-carefree (and careless) Jack Donaghy. The final season, which would be the series' 7th, is expected to be abridged (consisting of only 13-14 episodes), like all returning NBC comedies, Deadline.com reports.
Other NBC series that look like they will be returning are Community and Tina Fey buddy Amy Poehler's Parks and Recreation. On the chopping block, though, is Whitney, which started out with tons of buzz but didn't stand up in the ratings. The future is uncertain for adorable Christina Applegate's family sitcom Up All Night, which just lost its executive producer to the new show featuring former Friends star Matthew Perry, Go On.
