Since we still have to wait until May 19 for The Phantom Menace to hit theaters (boo!), here’s the scoop on three brand new movies coming out this Friday and next Friday. In the mood for a passionate romance? A light-’n’-fluffy rom-com? A fast-paced, witty dramedy? Girl, Hollywood has you covered.
A Walk on the Moon
Set in the summer of 1969 during Woodstock and just before the moon landing, this romance centers on a Jewish woman’s (Diane Lane) torrid affair with a sexy stranger (Viggo Mortensen) at a Jewish family camp. The lovers have a blast, but it’s not quite as fun for her husband (Liev Schreiber) and teenage daughter (Anna Paquin).
Not sexy: Cheating on Liev Schreiber
Verdict: It could be sappy, it could be groovy; go see for yourself this weekend!
Never Been Kissed
A journalist, Josie Geller (Drew Barrymore), enrolls in her old high school to research a story about teens today. With a little help from her bro (David Arquette), who was popular back in his day, she penetrates the “in” crowd to get her scoop. But it comes at a price.
Sexy: Hot English teachers
Not sexy: High school mean girls
Verdict: At last, a new Drew Barrymore rom-com! We were starting to get a little tired of The Wedding Singer.
From the director of Swingers, Go is a high-adrenaline, non-linear Tarantino-esque dramedy about a drug deal told from three points of view. The cast includes Katie Holmes, Sarah Polley, Taye Diggs, Breckin Meyer, Jay Mohr, and Scott Wolf.
Sexy: A rad soundtrack
Not sexy: Getting busted
Verdict: Ready, set, Go get your tickets! Especially if you’ve always wanted to see Dawson’s Creek cutie
Joey Katie Holmes in an edgier role.
