While Sofia Coppola fans are getting excited for the upcoming release of The Bling Ring, Alexis Neiers’ name is quickly becoming little more than a distant memory.
In anticipation of the film’s premiere, 21-year-old former Pretty Wild star and alleged Bling Ring member is lashing out on social media over what she calls the “trashy and inaccurate” portrayal of the Bling Ring’s entirely tasteful and well-thought-out choice to rob celebrities.
Alexis explained on her blog, “I can only hope that this movie does not just tell the story of Los Angeles teens robbing the homes of celebrities... See as a society we are so focused in this day and age on what celebrity is doing what and we have gotten off track.”
Apparently not ready to apologize for her past bad acts, the wife and expectant mother placed the blame on society at large. “I believe, that a majority of society is just as sick as these teens were... We want an inside look into the real life of these celebrities and we enjoy publicly scrutinizing people... It is a method of distracting us from having to look at our own actions and sick behavioral patterns. The story of teens robing (sic) the homes of celebrities is artificial and has no real depth and substance.”
While Alexis says she can’t pinpoint where the breakdown of the family unit, or the teenage need to burglarize started, she has some ideas. “I don’t know exactly where we started to go wrong,” she wrote. “[But] I believe it has something to do with technology advancing so quickly in the last decade especially.”
