If you haven’t watched last night’s (October 31) freaky episode of American Horror Story: Asylum, move along to something — anything! — else. If you’ve already braved the dark storm that was “Nor’easter,” read on...
Warning: Spoilers ahead!
After Chloe Sevigny’s Shelley is caught attempting to escape the terrifying confines of Briarcliff on the Halloween episode, sadistic Dr. Arden (James Cromwell) takes it one step further than Misery and cuts off her legs.
Naturally, we’re surprised to learn that things are going to continue to go downhill for Shelley. “[H]er disadvantage is only increased,” Chloe reveals to TVLine. “She gets more and more helpless. [...] It’s very tragic, actually.” Count on American Horror Story to dream up fates worse than amputation!
The upside is that we’ve already begun to sympathize with her sex-crazed character. “In the beginning you kind of are not so much rooting for her, because she’s this bad girl, but then you see her helping [the others] try to escape and you realize she’s pretty selfless in that regard,” Chloe explains. “And after she gets in the clutches of the evil doctor, you’re more rooting for her, that she can find her way out [of her predicament].”
Let’s hope she does, but so far the outlook is not good. To put it mildly.
