In the spring, Ryan Murphy announced that several actors and actresses from American Horror Story would return for the second installment: Evan Peters, Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, and Zachary Quinto. Now, it turns out that fan favorite Frances Conroy will be back as well.

“Thrilled to announce Emmy nominee Frances Conroy is returning to AHS,” Ryan tweeted on September 5. “Devils and angels this year...Frannie plays the ultimate angel.”

As fans of the first installment know, the general theme was ghosts trapped in one house for the rest of their...non-lives. This year on American Horror Story: Asylum, everything takes place at Briarcliff, an institution for the criminally insane run by a nun (Jessica Lange).

So, who exactly is this "ultimate angel" Frances Conroy will be playing? We can't wait to tune in to find out!

American Horror Story: Asylum premieres on Wednesday, October 17 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
