The second season of American Horror Story will bring us a new story in a fresh setting, but rest assured that there will be plenty of familiar faces. In addition to Jessica Lange and Zachary Quinto, who were previously confirmed as returning cast members, series co-creator Ryan Murphy announced at PaleyFest that Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, and Lily Rabe will all be back.
This time around, the terrifying events will go down at an East Coast “horror institution.” While we still don’t know exactly what that means for the type of characters the returning actors will play, Murphy teased that the roles will be the opposite of their previous ones. Given that Evan portrayed Tate, a ghost/mass murderer, Sarah played the medium, Billie Dean, and that Lily was Nora Montgomery, an original owner of the haunted mansion, we have absolutely no idea what that could mean.
Still, we do know that we can expect plenty of chills and thrills. The only things that we’ve been told will definitely not appear on the show are vampires and werewolves. Ah, the possibilities...
Other nighlights of the Paley Festival panel, in which Murphy, co-creator Brad Falchuck, exec producer Dante Di Loreto, actors Jessica Lange, Dylan McDermott, Connie Britton, Frances Conroy, Sarah Paulson, and Alexandra Breckenridge participated: Dylan McDermott's reactions when asked, repeatedly, about his nude scenes; a 29-year-old audience member who announced that Jessica Lange does it for him every time; and a cross-dresser in the audience who was inspired by Constance, Jessica Lange's character. He/she wanted to know how Jessica came to be so darned sexy. Jessica did not offer a definitive answer.
