Awkward’s Jenna (Ashley Rickards) and Matty (Beau Mirchoff) may have narrowly escaped getting exposed in the security video scandal that rocked Palos Verdes High School to the core (Season 2, Episode 2: “Sex, Lies and Videotape”), but does that mean we’re done with the twosome? Hardly!

Though Jenna and Jake (Brett Davern) seem to be a happy couple for now, Beau Mirchoff recently told Wetpaint Entertainment in an exclusive interview that Matty may not be above a little sabotage to get what he wants.

Wetpaint Entertainment: Jenna and Jake seem very happy together. Where does that leave Matty?

Beau Mirchoff: Matty has to learn how to cope with his best friend dating the love of his life. So that's kind of the beginning of the season for Matty, him dealing with this new situation. It's difficult for Matty because he's kind of had things come easy to him in life and he’s used to getting what he wants. And now, this is something that's kind of out of his hands.

What is his arc this season?

I think Matty definitely matures in time. It takes him a while. He has to keep this secret of his past relationship with Jenna from Jake. He doesn't want to wreck his relationship with Jake and Jenna. It's just this whole complicated situation. Matty's morals are tested and maybe you get a closer look at the true Matty. Like, is he always going to be good?

Will Matty be the wrench in Jake and Jenna’s relationship?

In Jenna’s mind, she tried with Matty. And she ultimately did what she had to do. She made the right choice in Jake. So now Matty's out of her mind, and it's Matty's job to get him back on Jenna's mind, if that makes any sense.

So are you trying to sabotage them, maybe?

Maybe that’s in the back of Matty's mind, yeah. If you're absolutely in love with someone, it's like you do what you have to do to get that person back. And if you're going to hurt some people's feelings, maybe wreck some relationships, maybe you'll do that.

What about the fun stuff? Because that's such a big part of the show.

You're right. I forget that sometimes. I really do, because it's not funny to me when we're doing it. Most of my stuff is not so flippant. And when you're doing comedy, you're not trying to be funny, so I forget sometimes we're doing comedy. But there's a lot of fun stuff. I will say this, that the only way to mend a broken heart is to find new love. So maybe Matty goes on the prowl. That's fun.
