Oh my God, they’re back again!

A former fixture of countless teenage girls’ bedroom walls, ’90s heartthrobs the Backstreet Boys announced on Good Morning America today that all five original members have reunited to record a new album. A.J. McLean, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson, and Nick Carter spoke from a recording studio in London.

It’s our first time in the studio together, all five of us, since 2005,” said Howie. He and A.J., Brian, and Nick previously toured with the New Kids on the Block without Kevin, who left the group to pursue other interests.

The quintet are now deep into recording their new record with the help of Martin Terefe, who’s worked with Mary J. Blige and Jason Mraz. The album will drop next spring to mark the group’s 20th anniversary together.

A.J. also announced that the fully reunited group will perform on August 31 on GMA for the first time since 2006.

“It’s awesome,” said Nick of working with his bandmates again. “The vibe is fantastic.”
