Actress and athlete Sammi Kane Kraft’s life was cut short yesterday after the 20-year-old star died early Tuesday morning in a car accident.
The real-life baseball player made her film debut in 2005’s Bad News Bears remake, taking on the role of Amanda Whurlitzer, a part originally played by Tatum O’Neal in the 1976 film.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Sammi’s car rear-ended a big rig and was then hit by another vehicle. The actress was pronounced dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center while the car’s driver, 21-year-old Molly Kate Adams, was treated for injuries and arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
Our thoughts are with Sammi’s friends and family during this difficult time.
