Beyonce is opening up for the first time about a very painful time in her life.
The music superstar is revealing details of her heartbreaking miscarriage in an HBO documentary about her life which premieres next month.
"About two years ago, I was pregnant for the first time," Beyonce reveals about the miscarriage. "And I heard the heartbeat, which was the most beautiful music I ever heard in my life."
"I picked out names," she continues. "I envisioned what my child would look like... I was feeling very maternal."
Sadly, things went wrong in the early stages of the pregnancy.
"I flew back to New York to get my check up — and no heartbeat," Beyonce says. "Literally the week before I went to the doctor, everything was fine, but there was no heartbeat." Wow.
After that, Beyonce — who is performing at halftime of this Sunday's Super Bowl — says she was devastated.
"I went into the studio and wrote the saddest song I've ever written in my life," she says. "And it was actually the first song I wrote for my album. And it was the best form of therapy for me, because it was the saddest thing I've ever been through."
Thankfully, the story has a happy ending, as Beyonce gave birth to her daughter Blue Ivy a little over a year ago.
We're proud of B for being open about this difficult experience. And thank goodness she was able to have Blue, since Beyonce seems like such an amazing mom!
