Breaking Bad is known for stellar guest stars — from Giancarlo Esposito as murderous Chilean drug lord Gustavo Fring to Krysten Ritter as Jesse’s heroin-addicted girlfriend — and the highly anticipated Season 5 will feature yet another talented actor in an important guest role.

TVLine reports that Friday Night Lights star Jesse Plemons has scored a “major recurring role” on Season 5, the final season which will be broken up into two eight-episode mini-seasons. His character is named Todd, “a dependable, innocuous, working-class guy … However, his character may not be what he appears to be.”

Yikes! To refresh your memory, we last left Walt (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse (Aaron Paul) in two very different places, mentally. Jesse had put his faith and trust back in Walt, as they planned a successful murder-suicide of Gus and Hector Salamanca (Mark Margolis), he of the terrifying wheelchair “ding”s. But in the last moments of the Season 4 finale, we realized that Walt had finally made the transformation “from Mr. Chips to Scarface.” Jesse still has no idea.

Jesse Plemons memorably played Landry Clarke on FNL, the former shy and awkward football player-turned-rapist killer. We would never insult Breaking Bad by predicting how they’ll run things come July, but we wonder if this Todd character will make it past the first eight episodes...
