Sue me, maybe?

We don’t think that’s quite what Carly Rae Jepsen was going for with her mega-hit, “Call Me Maybe.” But the Canadian songstress is being accused of ripping off someone else’s song for her own musical gain.

E! Online reports that Ukrainian singer AZA is filing a lawsuit against Carly and manager Scooter Braun, alleging that “Call Me Maybe” bears an all-too-striking resemblance to her own tune, “Hunky Santa” (yes, you read that right).

“I’m shocked and surprised that these people wanted to sample my lyrics on ‘Call Me Maybe,’” said AZA in an official statement. “When I first listened to it on the radio while driving my car, I almost got into an accident. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.”

AZA claims “Call Me Maybe” is “derivative” of her own sultry song and is seeking unspecified damages in court, in addition to an official court order to stop the continued sale and promotion of the song worldwide.

After listening to “Hunky Santa,” we fail really to see what AZA’s beef is with Carly. Listen to both tracks back-to-back below and let us know what you think!
