While The CW's new series The Carrie Diaries is set to go back in time to show viewers what Carrie Bradshaw was like in her younger years, the real-life cast is all grown up: Sex and the City actress Cynthia Nixon has finally tied the knot — to her longtime partner Christine Marinoni, three years after being engaged at a marriage equality rally in New York and a year after same-sex marriage became legal in New York state.
The couple announced the marriage to PEOPLE in an official statement, saying simply, "On May 27, 2012, Cynthia Nixon and her girlfriend, Christine Marinoni, were legally married in the state of New York." Nixon's dress? In typical Sex and the City alumnus fashion, it was a custom gown designed by Carolina Herrera. No big deal, right?
Cynthia, 46, has been with Christine, 45, since 2004. They have one child together, Max, born in 2011; Cynthia also has two children from a previous relationship.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
