Emmy-winning actress Kathryn Joosten died Saturday, June 2, surrounded by her loved ones, her publicist said in a statement. She was 72.
The actress was best known to many viewers for her role as the likable curmudgeon Karen McCluskey on Desperate Housewives, which aired its final episode several weeks ago; she also played Mrs. Landingham on The West Wing for two seasons. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2001 and, following treatment, the cancer returned in 2009. Kathryn received Emmys for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her much-loved role on Desperate Housewives, and was nominated again in 2010.
Our condolences go out to her friends and family.
