Dick Van Dyke has canceled several planned public appearances for next week due to health issues, according to Entertainment Tonight.
The 87-year-old star of Mary Poppins and The Dick Van Dyke Show will remain in his home in Malibu with wife Arlene, rather than fly to NYC for an awards ceremony.
Dick is dealing with "fatigue and lack of sleep resulting from symptoms of a yet-to-be diagnosed neurological disorder," explains his rep.
He was to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for Bettering Humanity Through Comedy from the 92nd Street Y.
In addition to starring on the '90s series Diagnosis: Murder and in films like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Dick has spent the past 20 years volunteering and raising money for the homeless.
He rose to fame with The Dick Van Dyke Show, which aired from 1961 to 1966 and earned him three Emmy awards.
More recently, he has appeared in Scrubs and Night at the Museum.
In February 2012, Dick married makeup artist Arlene, who is 41 years old. Way to go, Dick!
Our thoughts are with him as we wish him a speedy recovery.
