Actor Ed Asner — still Lou Grant, to many — was hospitalized in Indiana yesterday after he had a medical emergency about 15 minutes into his one-man show, FDR.
According to TMZ, the 83-year-old actor was struggling with his lines, and he was ultimately escorted off the stage. Asner's son, Matt, told TMZ, "My dad is doing fine. He was rushed to the hospital yesterday for being disoriented on stage. He is resting now at an Indiana hospital and is doing well and very grumpy, which with him is always a good thing."
It's still not clear what happened, but Matt told TMZ it was not a stroke. He also said his father had been feeling under the weather for a few weeks, so he may just need to rest. According to the Huffington Post, Ed was hospitalized for "exhaustion." He was expected to be released from the hospital later today. We wish him a swift recovery!
