“Fish out of water” plotlines are always a sure-fire hit, and we’re sure Fox’s newest fall sitcom, The New Girl, won’t be any different.

With cutie-pie Zooey Deschanel living with three hot guys (played by Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, and Lamorne Morris, who replaced Damon Wayans Jr.), how could it not be?
Wetpaint Entertainment got some girl time with Zooey at the PaleyFest Fox Fall TV Preview to get the 411 on her new roomies.

“Jess is very unique and emotional. In a lot of ways she’s very girly, sweet and very idiosyncratic,” Deschanel told us in an exclusive interview when describing her latest role.

The petite girl-next-door went on to fill us in on some of the interesting interactions that inevitably occur when you find a new apartment full of male roommates on Craigslist.

“There may possibly [be romance with the roommates], we don’t know yet. So far we have just been developing the characters and getting to know them right now,” Zooey teased.

So, who would she choose to live with in real life?

“I’d live with Nick [played by Jake Johnson] first, as he seems like the best roommate. I’ve not had guy roommates before per se, but I’ve got guy friends a lot of time I go on tour with my band in close quarters. I’m both a girls’ girl and a guys’ girl,” she explained.

“We’re getting to know the characters, so we’re setting up how they get in each other’s ways.  There is conflict and they get on, just like in any relationship,” she added. “I love it, so I figure if I love it then someone else will, too.”

Well, it got a thumbs up from us. Check out The New Girl, Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
