Is Rooney Mara about to star in yet another much-anticipated film adaptation of a best-selling book trilogy?
The film actress earned a Best Actress Oscar nomination for her starring role in 2011's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and now some people are wondering if she might also be the best choice to play Anastasia in Fifty Shades of Grey.
Last year, Policy Mic wrote, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo's Academy Award-nominated star Rooney Mara should be cast as Anastasia Steele."
Now, Rooney has made a comment to Newsweek that has some sources wondering if she has Fifty Shades of Grey on the brain.
"I’m interested in the duality of people," Rooney says. “I have a lot of darkness and frenetic energy inside myself, so it’s easier for me to portray people with shades of gray.”
See?! She actually used the words "shades of gray"! Okay, so it might be a stretch to assume that Rooney was trying to convey her interest in Anastasia, but there's no denying the role would be up her alley.
Rooney next stars opposite Channing Tatum in the film Side Effects, which opens this weekend.
Come to think of it, Rooney and Channing would both be pretty good in Fifty Shades, no?
