Model Crystal Renn's fluctuating weight has been a hot topic for years. Now, recent pictures showing off Crystal's new, slimmer frame have ignited controversy once again.
Originally discovered at 14, Crystal was told to lose a considerable amount of weight if she wanted to become a model. She initially worked in high-fashion for several years, but after an ongoing battle with anorexia, decided to change her extreme diet and exercise habits and adopt a healthier lifestyle.
Later, after gaining 70 pounds, Crystal began her plus-size modeling career, modeling for brands like Lane Bryant and Torrid. Crystal even detailed her struggles with anorexia and maintaining a healthy weight in her 2009 memoir, Hungry: A Young Model's Story of Appetite, Ambition and the Ultimate Embrace of Curves. But when she showed up at an event in New York earlier this month looking noticeably skinnier, many wondered if she had reverted back to her unhealthy ways.
Crystal’s agent insists that she’s simply living a healthy lifestyle. According to RadarOnline, Crystal’s agent told registered dietitian Marsha Hudnall that the model is “healthy” and “feels amazing.”
So what’s all the fuss about?
“Society wants Crystal to fit in a 'box' neatly on either end of the scale — extremely thin or plus-size. Now that she doesn't fit into one of these boxes, it almost seems that people are questioning her honesty,” Marsha says.
As long as she’s happy and healthy, who cares, right?
