The night is dark and full of terrors, but having the guest right is supposed to protect you from people who want to bite your ear off.
Not so for Clive Mantle, 55, who plays Greatjon Umber, a Northman and ally of King Robb on Game of Thrones. According to Press Association (via Yahoo!), Clive was staying at a Travelodge in Newcastle, UK, after appearing in a touring production of The Ladykillers. He reportedly asked some other guests to keep their noise down and, around 4:30 a.m., he was reportedly attacked by a 32-year-old man who bit off a piece of his ear.
"He is very shaken and shocked by what has happened, you don't expect this kind of thing to happen in a hotel," the actor's spokesperson said in a statement (via Zap2it). "The part of the ear that was bitten off was found and sewn back on. Mr Mantle said the police, ambulance and hospital staff were amazing."
The alleged attacker will appear in court in April. Clive stands over 6'5" tall, so it's a wild feat to even imagine someone getting close enough for an early morning ear attack. We're glad his ear is back on — and hopefully not everyone who is asked to be quiet at a hotel resorts to the same extreme measures!
