One of the best things about Game of Thrones is its expansive cast of characters, each more layered, fascinating, and talented than the next. It's almost impossible to pick a favorite. The show creators, David Benioff and DB Weiss told The Telegraph the same thing in a recent interview — but they did manage to pick one character they think has the best arc in Season 2.
When asked who their favorite characters are, David Benioff protested that "that’s like asking us to choose between children." Both men agreed that the complex, relatable characters are what made them fall in love with A Song of Ice and Fire in the first place.
However, DB Weiss did note that, "if there’s one [favorite character] in the second season it’s Theon Greyjoy. He has a fascinating arc, and Alfie Allen brings it out so well. It’s great to watch."
We've already gotten a taste of Theon's arc in Season 2, Episode 2: "The Nightlands." A boy stuck between two worlds — his blood family and the family that raised him — and not really fitting into either, it's already easy to see how much potential there is for conflict and growth in Theon's story. We look forward to seeing it play out each week.
