When Game of Thrones Season 3 premieres this Sunday, March 31, Jaime Lannister will still be making his way to King’s Landing as Brienne of Tarth’s hostage — a piece of dangerously handsome (and just plain dangerous) meat to be traded for the Stark girls.
Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays the infamous kingslayer, and the Danish actor made it clear that Jaime is so over this road trip home.
Wetpaint Entertainment: Where do we find Jaime when the season begins?
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau: We find him on way back to King’s Landing. He's still a prisoner of Brienne of Tarth, and he is fed up with her. He wants to get rid of her. So he's trying his utmost to provoke some kind of confrontation.
So they're not fast friends after this road trip?
No. It's not quite working out that way.
I was reading in EW that you had particularly rough scenes, like being kicked in the stomach. Is that par for the course?
Yeah, a lot of mud, and it's amazing when you finish a day's work how many weird places you find dirt once you get out of your car.
If and when he gets back to Cersei, do you expect a happy reunion?
I'm sure that's what Jaime hopes for, but who knows. You'll have to watch the show.
Do we get into what Jaime is thinking?
We learn a lot more about him, that's for sure.
Game of Thrones Season 3 premieres March 31 at 9/8c on HBO.
