Scottish actor Gerard Butler is reportedly leaving the Betty Ford Center today (February 24), after being treated for substance abuse. According to TMZ, Gerard entered the rehab facility three weeks ago. Who knew?
The buff and reportedly hard-partying Gerard allegedly began his love/hate relationship with drugs after filming his breakthrough role in 300 back in 2006. As TMZ states, “The actor began struggling with pain management, and the problem became exacerbated while filming Of Men and Mavericks, when Butler was badly hurt on December 18 during a surfing accident.”
According to sources, Gerard “also developed issues with cocaine.”
Against all odds, Gerard's team kept this story out of the media for nearly a month. Ahem, Lindsay Lohan? Please hire Gerard Butler’s publicist.
