If you like The Voice but think it would be better as a dating show, you're in luck!
Fox has greenlit a six-episode summer dating show that is pretty freakin' similar to the singing competition, as the new show also involves a handful of celebrities in spinning chairs, and there's even the oh-so-similar name of the show, The Choice. (Because it rhymes with The Voice — see what they did there?) The series will be hosted by So You Think You Can Dance's Cat Deeley and will air this June. (We know — that's still more than a month away, but patience is a virtue, people!)
But what actually happens on the show? Each episode of The Choice — which will be taped in front of a live audience — will begin with four hunky celebrity bachelors sitting in those rotating chairs. The celebrity men will have their backs turned to a slew of foxy ladies, who will use only their voices to impress the men by talking about their lives. In other words, it's like the opposite of The Little Mermaid. (Also, no one will be wearing a seashell-bikini — as far as we know.)
If a celebrity likes what he hears, he pulls on his "love handle" (yikes!) to select the contestant, and each celebrity will select three ladies this way. Wait — so on this show, a "love handle" is something good? Who knew?!
In the second round of the show, each lady will have only 15 seconds to convince the guy to choose her, which will narrow it down to two ladies. Then, a beauty pageant-style final round will determine the winner, who will then go on a "dream date" with the celeb — on Fox's dime! Not too shabby.
Of the first six episodes, five of the episodes will feature four different male celebrities, while one of those six episodes will feature female celebs. That's right — washed-up female celebrities need groupies, too! No word yet on which celebs will be chosen, but we're sure they'll be
desperate for the spotlight awesome!
