Sorry, Christian Bale, but the POTUS has spoken.
A mutual admiration society meeting was held last night for President Barack Obama and the entertainment industry peeps who love him. The Obama fundraiser was hosted by Harvey Weinstein, Aaron Sorkin, Anne Hathaway and Paul Newman’s widow Joanne Woodward at the Westport, CT home of Weinstein and his wife, designer Georgina Chapman. Sixty guests — including Jerry Springer and Anna Wintour — paid $35,800 each for tickets, which earned Obama’s campaign more than $2 million.
According to Deadline, Weinstein gave an intro calling Obama “The Paul Newman of American presidents.” The president praised The Newsroom’s Sorkin and gave Hathaway rave reviews for her Catwoman performance (or maybe just tight clothing) in The Dark Knight Rises.
“She’s spectacular,” Obama said. “I got a chance to see Batman, and she was the best thing in it. That’s just my personal opinion.”
Now Christian Bale just has to co-host an Obama fundraiser so the prez can clarify that he was the best thing in it too. Then Tom Hardy can stomp over to a Romney fundraiser so he gets his own official pat on the head.
