What a fantastic way to get people to pay attention to the news. Bravo, Canada! Way to blaze a new trail. So what if it was a mistake?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, CHCH Television in Hamilton, Ontario apologized Friday to its shocked viewers after the local morning newscast was interrupted by roughly three minutes — think about it, THREE FULL MINUTES — of hardcore gay pornography.

To quote THR's story, "A red-faced CHCH news director Mike Katrycz said the offending porn originated at a local cable company, which inadvertently inserted the wrong programming after repairing some cut cable lines."

Maybe someone was pulling a Fight Club-style prank. Or maybe they just wanted to see if anyone watched the morning news. Apparently people do watch, since some viewers shared their (mock) horror on Twitter, calling the show "Morning Wood." Too bad it happened on a Friday instead of Hump Day.

Do you think this will give the show better ratings next week, just in case the same "mistake" happens twice?
