Times are tough, and it's hard to know where the money goes sometimes, but one meeeellion dollars? That we could probably track.
The Hills alum Heidi Montag told Access Hollywood the only thing she misses about being in the spotlight is the money. Stuff like “clothes, hair and makeup, managers, publicists, agents and lawyers” maxxed out the dough she and her husband of four years, Spencer Pratt, had earned.
“If we would have saved our money, it would have been better," Heidi said. How much did they lose? “I’ve never really counted, so I’m not sure [how much we lost], a lot… over a million or so,” Heidi estimated.
Imagine having that much money to not even count — and then letting it slip away on trivial things instead of thinking of the future.
On the upside, Heidi said a lot of their expenses are now minimized, since they are living on a property owned by Spencer's family. And apparently the relatively hard times have only brought the couple closer together.
"I honestly love him more and more every day,” Heidi said. “I laugh more, we enjoy each other more, especially taking a step out of the spotlight."
But not that far out of the spotlight — she's hosting the third anniversary party at Crazy Horse III in Las Vegas today, and she'll reportedly earn a staggering $25,000 for it. Wow. But what else can retired reality TV stars do for jobs, besides host events? Can they just apply to be receptionists or something?
