Yep, you read the headline right, Fringe fans: FOX has renewed the beloved sci-fi epic for one last, shortened season, FOX President of Entertainment Kevin Reilly announced yesterday.

"Fringe is a remarkably creative series that has set the bar as one of television’s most imaginative dramas. Bringing it back for a final 13 allows us to provide the climactic conclusion that its passionate and loyal fans deserve," Rielly explained in a statement. "The amazing work the producers, writers and the incredibly talented cast and crew have delivered the last four seasons has literally been out of this world. Although the end is bittersweet, it’s going to be a very exciting final chapter."

Thank you, FOX! As members of Fringe's small but devoted fan base, we honestly do appreciate that the writers have a chance to wrap the show up in a way it deserves. It seems the network that once cut Firefly down before it even had a chance to get going has learned a thing or two about nurturing awesome genre TV in the last decade.
