This article contains spoilers for House Season 8, Episode 20: "The C-Word."

We weren't sure what to think when Wilson revealed he has cancer last week on House. That's the kind of storyline that has the potential to be a disaster, and let's be honest: the show hasn't exactly been in tip-top shape recently. But as it turns out, our fears were unfounded.

The writers used Wilson's illness to delve into the friendship that has been so central to this show since day one. Wilson has always been the Watson to House's Holmes, and on Season 8, Episode 20: "The C-Word," the ever-cranky doc proved once again that under all the pretence he really does care.

From nursing Wilson through a tortuous — emotionally and physically — night of chemo-induced pain (with the help of copious painkillers, of course), to putting together a hilarious slideshow to cheer his best bud up the next day, House actually earned his place as Wilson's BFF this week.

Did you enjoy the episode, or did you think it was overwrought? As we approach the end of House, do you think the writers are trying to show that he's learned a thing or two about being a good person, or was this a temporary moment of kindness brought on by an extreme situation?
