Want auteur Stephen Soderbergh to make a movie based on your life, starring you? Easy: Just casually drop into conversation that you used to be a male stripper. Worked for Channing Tatum, anyway. “I was having a beer with Soderbergh, we were making a movie together,” he told MTV News. “I did this for like eight months of my life when I was like 18 or 19 years of age. He was like ‘We gotta make a movie of this.’ And I was like, ‘Why?’”
Well, the wild hordes of women screaming whenever Channing and stripping are mentioned in the same sentence are a pretty good answer to that.
Channing also says that Soderbergh and the cast financed the film themselves. “I don’t know if people realize this, but this is an independent movie. We did it all on our own.” Aww, they’re trying to pay their way through movie school! Stuff some money down their pants.
