Many generous people have donated to the American Red Cross in the week since Hurricane Sandy struck the Northeast. On Friday, NBC aired the telethon Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together, featuring performances from Bruce Springsteen, Christina Aguilera, Billy Joel and more.
According to a statement (via Celebuzz) from Red Cross Chief Marketing Officer Peggy Dyer, the preliminary results show nearly $23 million was raised during the hour-long telethon. The donations "are an extraordinary example of how the American people pull together in times of disaster."
Great job, everyone! Head here for ways you can continue to help.
