She may have just been named People magazine’s Most Beautiful Woman of 2012, but even Beyonce will admit that she doesn’t feel beautiful all the time.
"I didn't feel that I looked beautiful during birth, but who does?” Beyonce tells the mag. “After being pumped with all those fluids and gaining so much weight [...] I barely recognized myself.”
Beyonce gave birth to her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, back in January — and her incredibly rapid weight loss has been fascinating us ever since.
So exactly how much did she set out to lose? Beyonce tells People that she gained a grand total of 50 pounds during her pregnancy, 20 of which came during the final month of her pregnancy.
After she gave birth, reports surfaced that she was determined to get back to a goal weight of 128 pounds in just a matter of months. From the photos we’ve seen, Bey is looking very svelte. Now, the singer confirms that she is, in fact, just “three or four pounds” away from reaching her pre-pregnancy weight.
Beyonce attributes much of her rapid weight loss to breastfeeding, which she says she encourages all women to do, because “it's just so good for the baby and good for yourself.”
Diet and exercise have played an important role as well. Beyonce, who went as far as hiring a trainer to move in with her, says she counted calories, followed a very strict diet, and worked out “maybe three to four times a week.” (For up to two hours at a time, no less!)
Now that is some serious dedication, and it certainly shows. Way to go, B!
